I don't think the killer knew his/her victims (rather his...I see here too much agressivity, pushing the car also need strength), definitely not their ex-partners...a serial killer in progress who began his "career" with the Thomas-Dowsky couple. Their sexuality (lesbians) just put more wood on the fire, made him more angry...but actually didn't matter, he posed as a bluenosed park ranger or cop. The domination is heavily important...controlling the couples as a cop does. He hated couples, he was very jelaous because he hadn't got or never got any "normal", love based, romantic relationship in his life and these couples made him angry. Colonial Parkway was an "Eden" for him, 'cos lots of couples choiced that remote place, they wanted discretion, hide from the people. That's why we have two lesbian couples, Cathy and Becky, Lollie and Julie...The society didn't accept them at that time, but for him: their sexuality was not important, I think, he hated all couples...rage and violence were important. Maybe he was a real park ranger or cop, like Joseph James DeAngelo, the Golden State Killer was...the worst kind: use his knowledge for bad. :( For very bad. :(
20:58...Son of Sam, Berkowitz didn't kill alone, he was a member of a group (sect) who committed that crimes, not only David Berkowitz. The witnesses saw the killer, but he had different appearences...
Or the Zodiac Killer...He also killed couples with gun and knife. (Plus a taxi driver and a college freshman girl.) Really interesting who was the Zodiac Killer...Arthur Leigh Allen? Zodiac Killer was the Colonial Parkway Killer too?
And who was Jack the Ripper?
And who killed President Kennedy in fact? Not the hitmen, the real killers...who are they?
Too much questions without answers!
28:45 (L) (k) (L) (k) What a beautiful scene after Joyce talked about Keith and Their Mom, the camera showed mama duck and baby duck. This paralellism is very tasteful and lovely, showed the photographer's and director's sensitivity.
Poor Dad, when found his son's car, but need to go work...and this: 26:20 Very strange! "They weren't there when My Dad stopped, the first time." The killer was in the nearby when the Dad recognized Keith's car...abandoned. But where are Sandy and Keith? :(
38:19 A serial killer's sick, but logical thinking. Jesperson isn't stupid, "just" pure evil. :S
39:32 William and Anna were very cute little kids. :) Interesting: two Phelps talked with each other: Investigative Journalist, M. William Phelps and Annamaria's Brother, William Phelps... :) Coincidence? I think not!
Is Alan Wilmer Sr. our guy?:

P.S.:
1. Maybe the killer's GF/wife cheated him and he caught them in a car and 'couples in cars' is psychological calling card for him.
Maybe the killer saw his GF/partner/wife who kissed with another woman (she was bisexual) in a car, that's why he killed lesbians.
2. Keith Call - Cassandra Hailey: Maybe the ranger who found their car is the killer and he put their things in the car after Dad left the scene.
3. Daniel Lauer - Annamaria Phelps: cover them with blanket, this is a sign of guilt or remorse. And it means he knew them.
