REPORTEsta fue la primera de cuatro películas que se crearon respecto al anime de "Inuyasha", siendo todas estas NO canon. Además, los largometrajes cuentan con una peculiaridad: el diseñador de personajes cambió respecto al anime episódico y, consecuentemente, los diseños lucían algo más cercanos a los diseños originales del manga de Rumiko Takahashi.
La película como tal narra cómo un demonio despertado por uno de los fragmentos de la perla de Shikon, de nombre Menoumaru Hyouga, enfrentará a Inuyasha y compañía con un objetivo: conseguir la Tessaiga y hacer que esta despierte el poder de su legado familiar. La película, cronológicamente hablando, se estrenó entre los episodios 54 y 56 del anime.
